The D-U-N-S® number is one of the identifiers companies abroad ask for most often when they register and check a new supplier. Without one, it is hard for an organisation overseas to verify a Korean company.
Dun & Bradstreet issues the nine-digit number from the company's records, and from then on the number stays with the company. Instead of a bundle of documents a counterpart abroad has to take on trust, there is one reference they can look up for themselves.
With the registration, that step is no longer an obstacle. It says nothing about the work itself; it simply makes the company verifiable from abroad.
Together with the Science Exchange listing and the supplier registration, the same groundwork is now in place in three places. Before anyone buys, they first need to be able to check.
